The $80K improvements did not increase the value of the home. A three bedroom house in x location is worth y. As everyone knows cosmetic changes does not increase the value of a home. A three bedroom house in x location is still only worth y.

The wife herself received 2.18 million dollars from Keith's accident settlement. Keith received 2.8 million dollars which the wife controlled.
In 2003 $350,000 from Keith's settlement was put into an account to be used for Keith before the trust was established. In addition to the $350,000.00 the wife was receiving all of Keith's monthly/annual funds from his Military, New Mexico State Police, Pera, Annuities, etc...
Wife had two accounts of Keith's funds she was using: Money Market account spending $154,643.95 and an another account spending an additional $45,158.33 mostly on items for herself and the two adult children.
Below is 2003 accounting by the wife filed with the court spending $199,802.28 dollars of Keith's funds.
