I am Keith’s guardian for a reason which is to protect my brother keeping him mentally and physically healthy without the use of unnecessary medications. While some medicines are necessary, many health issues can be addressed and corrected by diet, exercise and proper sleep. As Keith’s guardian, every doctor Keith is seen by should be provided a copy of my guardianship / contact information and directed to contact me directly to discuss matters involving Keith but TideWay / Dr Masel do not acknowledge me and do not ever provide my information.
If there is ever an altercation, client pushes Keith or rips his shirt off him, I am not permitted to know the other client involved nor am I permitted to know who or what provoked the incident. I was never contacted nor aware of any behavioral issues out of the ordinary. By out of the ordinary I know of a client who I referred to as the town bully who was much bigger then Keith and there would be conflicts over the tv since clients were not permitted to have tv's in there rooms. There is also one other client that other clients, along with staff and Keith especially absolutely hate.
Apparently Dr Masel recruited the help of Director Shepard from UTMB and the next thing I know the court is forcing Keith on Abilify. Keith had again been taken to a doctor(Director Shepherd) and my guardianship/contact information were not provided. If Keith was having anger issues, I believe providing Keith with anger management should have been the first course of action. At the hearing, Keith's lawyer requested Keith be provided anger management if he had anger issues but the court chose to force Keith on Abilify.
The facility here in northeast ready and waiting for Keith provides anger management as part of there standard care plus so much more because they are living and rehabilitation facility where as TideWay is only a TBI living facility.
Note Dir Shepards message to Dr Masel. She recommended three things... 1) A specific glucose monitor for blood sugar readings, 2) readings be taken once daily alternating times morning/evenings and 3) Abilify.
Dir Shepard also states "it seems by history 20 units of Lantus is as low..." By who's history did the Lantus stop at 20 units?
May 2011 Keith's AIC excellent at 4.7 so Dir Shepard recommended readings once daily alternating times be taken but as you can see from Keith's blood sugar sheet years later Mar 2014 TideWay still sticking Keith two times daily and no "freestyle" glucose monitor for Keith. (See diabetes page)
Dr Masel took the piece he wanted all the way to court which was to force Keith on Abilify but dismissed Director Shepard's other recommendations.
May 3rd 2011 Director Shepherd recommended one reading per day alternating but years later TideWay still taking Keith's blood sugar readings two times daily.

As soon as Dr Masel stated Keith sought out some individuals at camp I knew exactly which client. When I asked Dr Masel how could Keith have sought out client J in a huge campground? Dr Masel responded, "Keith sought him out." It was infuriating to learn what really happened. Camp trips occur two times a year and Keith had been going to camp every time for as long as he had been at TideWay. When the next camp trip was approaching I told TideWay Keith wasn't going to go to camp. Keith and I were not going to have Dr Masel increase or add another drug because Keith supposedly sought a client out. TideWay assured me there wouldn't be an issue this time. When I asked how they could assure me, "there wouldn't be an issue this time" TideWay staff told me, "this time Keith wouldn't be in the same group as client J." TideWay placed Keith in the same group forcing him to ride in a transport bus for hours, stay in the same cabin and participate in the same activities at the same time with client J when they knew Keith absolutely hates this client... and as always Dr Masel twist it that Keith sought out this individual when it was TideWay forcing Keith into the situation.
